John Mayer to Tour in January and February

John Mayer has announced the following tour dates for a winter tour that will take him to arenas across the country. The aging heart throb is typically a summer tour-type, so this should provide an interesting change that could bring him back up to being a premier draw on the road. If you look below you will see the date of the show, followed by the venue and city. The presale date and time that appears below it is for the Local-83 fan club presales. Wrestlemania, the WWE's flagship event, will take place on April 1, 2007 at Ford Field, the home of last year's Super Bowl. Tickets for this event, which is famous throughout the world and attracts visitors from dozens on countries every year, will go on presale starting Tuesday with a Detroit Lions season ticket holder presale password. Though it may not be possible to get this presale password, we don't think it will be unique and we will post it as soon as we can.

The WWE Presale is up next, on Friday 10/27 and we anticipate having that password as well. The public sale for Wrestlemania tickets is Saturday November 11.

Keith Urban Goes into Rehab

Keith Urban has checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center for alcohol abuse, less than four months after the Grammy-winning country singer's marriage to actress Nicole Kidman.

Urban released a statement Friday that said he entered rehab Thursday night with his wife by his side. His publicist would not give the location of the rehab center.

"I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me," Urban said in the statement.

Urban, who turns 39 on Oct. 26, has publicly acknowledged a former addiction to cocaine, but his publicist said Urban was currently being treated for alcohol abuse.

"One can never let one's guard down on recovery, and I'm afraid that I have," the statement reads. "With the strength and unwavering support I am blessed to have from my wife, family and friends, I am determined and resolved to a positive outcome."

His new CD, "Love, Pain, & the whole crazy thing," will be released Nov. 7 as scheduled, but he will postpone all upcoming promotional appearances.

Urban will also likely cancel a scheduled appearance on the Country Music Association awards next month, the publicist said.

Kidman and Urban, who were both raised in Australia, married on June 25 in Sydney. They then moved to Nashville, where Urban records.

Urban won a Grammy this year for best male country vocalist for "You'll Think of Me," and was named top male vocalist for the second year in a row by the Academy of Country Music.

We have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Justin Timberlake presale. This presale is sponsored by his fan club, which means you have to join (and pay) to get a pass code. That passcode is unique and can then be used on Ticketmaster.

Really though, you can save yourself the trouble and just go to Ticketmaster directly and purchase the fan club membership through them when you buy tickets. The cost is $45, same as if you join on the justintmberklake official site.

We actually recommend the second way because you are able to see your tickets before you pay for the fan club membership. We also recommend not jumping on bad tickets early. You can get better Justin Timberlake tickets simply by waiting a few minutes into the sale - good seats even pop up sometimes hours after the official start time.

Justin Timberlake to Go On Tour

We have our first all 2007 Tour announcement at Ticket Horde. Justin Timberlake will kick of the FutureSex/LoveShow Tour on January 8 at the iPayOne Center in San Diego and wind things up in New Jersey on 3/29. The 34 dates on the North American leg of the worldwide tour will feature Pink as a special guest.

Timberlake will be accompanied by a 14 piece band and back up dancers will perform "in the round," bringing the intimate mood of his acclaimed Live Listening Sessions into the arena setting.

The presale password for the WWE Survivor Series at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia will be WWES. The sale will not take place on Ticketmaster. Toronto Raptors Presale Passcode

The Raptors presale passcode for tickets for the 2006-07 regular season is GETINSIDE. While GetInside may be the passcode for tomorrow, it also doubles as what the Raptors are begging their fans to do. The Raptors have suffered from a steadily dwindling flow of fans into the Air Canada Centre from the 2000-2001 season until two years ago, according to Kenn.com. The Sports Network verifies that attendance continued to slide last season, all the way down to an average of 17,057 per game - a far cry from their nightly average of 23,179 back in 1995-96 when the Raptors were new and fresh. The Kevin Federline Presales going on sale today require no password...just make sure you are there in time!

Kevin Federline will play a string of concerts behind his new album Playing with Fire, which is due out on Hallloween. The album release is mixed in with a bunch of promotional dates including the airing of an episode of CSI in which he appears on October 12, an appearance on Leno October 19, A taping for the Tyra Banks show a week later and an appearance on MTV's TRL on November 2.

Ray Lamontagne Tours behind Till the Sun Turns Black

Presales for Ray Lamontagne begin this week for his tour behind his new album "Till the Sun Turns Black". If you don't know much about Lamontagne, it's probably because he wants it that way. This Mercury News article paints a picture similar to the one that appeared in Rolling Stone magazine recently: that of a reclusive musician with relationship problems with just about everyone he knows and particularly people he doesn't know.

El Duque Out - John Maine in

It's official. John Maine will get the start in place of the injured Orlando Hernandez in game 1 of the LDS, according to a report by ESPN.com.

That means the Mets rotation will something like this: Maine-Glavine-Trachsel. The Mets will then need to decide if they want to go one more deep into their rotation or give Maine a second start on three days rest in game 4. Really, the best the Mets can hope for is an offensive explosion in the first three games so they don't have to worry about it.

Folks in Flushing must be feeling a bit down after what has been an incredible run. Let's just hope it doesn't get too lop-sided to quick.

Silly, silly boy. Apparently this guy sold hundreds of college football tickets through auctions but priced them too low and couldn't come through. He then took off and was hanging out in a bar in Florida when he got arrested. Still think preselling is a good idea?

The quote from this article was rather amusing. "They call it a pre-sale," he said as if pre-sale was some sort of technical jargon. What really happened is this guy took a huge gamble but did not know what he was doing.

Preselling tickets has become more and more common among independent brokers who do so either because they think it makes them a big dog or helps them out with cash flow. But in reality, without years and years of experience it is almost impossible to be able to effectively sell that many tickets and still cover yourself if something goes wrong.

Selling tickets is a form of gambling and too many people are taking risks for which they do not fully understand the consequences. There are certain events for which the first sets of auctions that appear are clearly "pre-sale" tickets or tickets for which the seller does not really have seats yet.

How to identify sellers who are selling tickets they don't have yet:
If any of the following are true about your seller, you may be ordering tickets that have not been purchased yet.
1. Section or Row is TBD
2. Seller will only tell you the section the tickets appear in.
3. Seller puts something like "I reserve the right to upgrade you at no extra charge" in his disclaimers.*

An offer of an upgrade is not a tell-tale sign that tickets have been pre-sold. Sometimes sellers will list tickets as "Row 12 with a free upgrade" to disguise the actually location of the seats, which are actually closer. They do this to protect their seat location from the eyes of teams and bands that may be trying to cancel tickets.

Some fans buy pre-sale tickets knowingly and don't care because they know they will get their seats without having to search every day or worry about it. However, the risk of stuff like this happening exists, so buyer beware!

March to the World Series is On

October has officially begun. If you haven't noticed by looking at your calendar, you can just check the line after Derek Jeter's name in this morning's box score. He only kicked off the 2006 post-season with a 5-5 night that included 2 doubles, a home run and three runs scored in an 8-4 win over Detroit.

Thus ended a day that had a couple of surprises. The first and biggest surprise was that the Mets may have lost another key pitcher. Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, whose age is typically estimated at between 32 and 48, went down in a freak accident while doing standard drills yesterday. The injury may put him on the shelf next to fellow fallen pitcher Pedro Martinez. El Duque is currently listed as questionable and his status will be updated later today.

Another surprise was that the Cardinals actually showed up for their game yesterday. Chris Carpenter's breaking pitches were nasty and he made several Dodgers look plain silly. Albert Pujols homered and Jim Edmonds contributed on offense as well. More important than any one player performing well, though, is that the Cardinals now have a 5-1 game 1 victory off which to build momentum. We believed that a Padres win yesterday would have led to folding Cards today, but that is all moot now. It looks like St. Louis may be back.

While every win is big, if Oakland advances, they will probably look back at Game 1 as the reason. In what was supposed to be a Cy Young Award winning victory lap for Johan Santana turned into a highlight tape for Frank Thomas and the A's who won what was the best game of the day for the A's 3-2 over Minnesota.

And the march for the World Series is under way. Many of you may already have World Series Tickets in your hand or on your desk or in your season ticket pouch. But a world series ticket is just a piece of paper until your team makes it.
